After years working in the tourism industry, we learned what separates a good guide from a great one. It comes down to three things: a genuine love for the place you call home, the deep knowledge of the area that passion naturally builds over time, and the ability to read your group — to sense when to push further and when to slow down, when someone needs encouragement and when they just need silence to take it all in.
In a world where guiding has become a job for hire at large tour companies, that kind of care is increasingly rare. We started Swiss Local Guide because we wanted to do it differently — not by a script, not for the numbers, but because we love the Jungfrau Region and want every person we take into these mountains to feel that. We don’t just say that. Our guests tell us the same thing, consistently, in the feedback we receive.
We have called Interlaken home for over ten years. We know which trails are overrun by midday in July, which waterfall is three times more impressive after rain, and where to stop for lunch that isn’t on any tourist map.
